Love Letter, March 2024: Intuitive Play

Dear Gorgeous Soul,

Having intuitive awareness to find a way through a bump in the road is a learned practice.

At the moment my nervous system is on high alert and feeling wired.

Even though I have a basket full of embodiment, mindset and wellbeing practices for helping me through this, I’m struggling to keep it regulated. Sleep, appetite, and motivation for exercise have taken a hit as a result.

Avoiding a potential crash and burn is a top priority for me. In a recent catch up with my naturopath, we found that my increased workload has triggered my brain’s protective mechanism, flooding my body with chemicals or scope with stress.

Although I don’t consciously feel stressed, and I’m implementing self-care practices, my brain is still operating on old habits of overworking and pushing through challenges. Despite my efforts, I can’t shake this feeling of restlessness.

Through using my practices, tapping into my intuition and working with my energy healer, I’ve uncovered that the satisfaction triggers feelings of being unsafe in my nervous system.

Now armed with this newfound awareness, I can have more compassion for myself and a deeper understanding of my behavior. By recognising the self-destructive patterns linked to this trigger, I can work towards establishing healthier thought patterns and ultimately, create new neural pathways for my response to feeling satisfied.

As I write this musing I am on a business retreat, where I get to blend work and wellbeing together to create and birth my next project. I also leave for Nepal in a couple of weeks and my plan is to eat and sleep well, so I can exercise regularly to prepare myself appropriately for the upcoming hike.

Intuitive play is one of the strategies I use to help me with acceptance and positive reframing.

As a regular practice, it gives me the ability to approach challenging situations with curiosity and creative thinking.

Big love, Jo xx
